Sheela SharmaSuccess Story

Sheela Sharma — eLIT, India

Thanks to the staff of eLIT Computer Center in Kukatpally, Hyderbad, India, a young woman by the name of Sheela Sharma was empowered with the determination to learn more about computers. At 19 years of age, after she proudly graduated from high school, she came to eLIT to get computer training. After completing eLIT's Basic Computer Course, she took up a job with US Max, an American company that manufactures medical products with a branch office in Hyderabad, India. She started her position with a salary of Rs 3000 and has the potential of reaching up to Rs 10,000 in the near future. This means that she will be able to help her family with her income.

Sheela tells eLit: "I hope to use this training more at my job in the future." She adds that the income she earns is very beneficial to her family—6 members in total. She hopes to complete her college education and dreams of moving to a higher position within US Max. Sheela is thankful for the benefits of the computer training she has received through eLIT and would like to see eLIT offer English as a Second Language (ESL) classes as well. Most importantly, Sheela now says, "I want to be the managing director my company." She is able to dream a better future and she believes she can achieve it. This is true empowerment. She also serves as a role model for other young women in her neighborhood.
