USA Learning Center

Philadelphia, PA

A significant number of women in Philadelphia exist in economically disenfranchised environments. Among them are women in shelters, women with limited education and career opportunities, and women with low paying, menial or otherwise "dead-end" jobs. Many of these women are also mothers with children, living in poverty, and with little hope for their future. Our goal is to equip them with valuable skills to help them achieve economic independence. We believe that learning technology breaks the digital divide and provides empowerment. It's a chance to earn a better quality of life.

Our 12-week training program in Philadelphia provides basic computer skills training to women residing in a transitional home of our partner, the Travelers Aid Society.

Classes are normally held Mondays and Thursdays from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Classes are held at the Lombard Church at 42nd & Powelton in West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Reproductive health services for all women would cost $12 billion a year; $12 billion a year is spent on perfume in Europe and the United States. [more]

Classes are offered currently in:

  • Basic Windows Operating System
  • Internet
  • E-mail
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft Word
