India Learning Center

Hyderabad

eLIT has a center in Hyderabad, India where it has done exceptionally well, helping many women achieve independence through economic stability.

The main objective of this project is to improve the standard of living of the people dwelling in the Kukatpally location by way of providing basic computer knowledge to the women and children of the area who cannot afford computer education. The population of the community consists of stone cutters, as well as flower vendors, who eek out their living on day-to-day basis.

Women here lack proper skills. Recieving training through eLIT enables them to contribute to the income of their spouses and thereby acheive a better standard of living for their families. Visit the eLIT India Photo Galleries.

Parents in countries such as China and India sometimes use sex determination tests to find out if their fetus is a girl. Of 8,000 fetuses aborted at a Bombay clinic, 7,999 were female. [more]
David Babu, Hyderabad Project Coordinator says, "The response from the community has been great and we are glad to inform you that 51 women have registered to attend the classes and make use of this opportunity. Most of them expressed the desire to learn the basic computer skills to secure jobs in the future. In addition to this, 111 children from the Jeevan Jyothi School are being benefited by the Center."
